Minister Holds Meeting in Inchiri to Discuss Decentralization and Local Development
The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Interior, Decentralization, and Local Development, Mr. Yaacoub Ould Salem Vall, held a meeting on Saturday at the Inchiri regional headquarters with administrative authorities and elected officials of the region.
Government Commitment to Decentralization
At the start of the meeting, the Minister emphasized the strong commitment of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to advancing decentralization and local development. He highlighted significant sovereign steps taken in this regard, including:
🔹 The National Strategy for Decentralization
🔹 The establishment of the Supreme Council for Decentralization
🔹 The creation of a Minister Delegate position within the Ministry of Interior dedicated to decentralization and local development
Inchiri’s Role in Decentralization Plans
The Minister also underscored Inchiri’s strategic importance in decentralization efforts, recognizing the region’s unique characteristics, particularly its mining sector. He called for enhanced cooperation between local administration and elected officials to ensure effective development across all sectors in a way that serves citizens’ interests.
Regional Perspectives on Challenges and Opportunities
🔸 Governor of Inchiri, Mr. Idrissa Demba Kouréra, stressed the importance of coordination between local administration and elected representatives to tackle the region’s challenges.
🔸 President of the Inchiri Regional Council, Mr. Cheikh Ma El Ainin Ould Abidi, provided an overview of the different areas within the region and emphasized the need for cooperation in addressing decentralization and local development issues.
