A Former Minister Expresses Solidarity with Aziz and Calls for His Access to Medical Care
Former Minister Aziz Ould Dahi expressed his solidarity with former President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz “during this difficult time, as his health appears to have been seriously affected.” He declared his support as “a citizen committed to the principles of justice and human dignity.”
In a post on his LinkedIn account, Ould Dahi called on the relevant authorities “to take the necessary measures to ensure the former president receives appropriate medical care, in line with the dignity that befits every human being, regardless of their status or past.”
As a former minister holding multiple portfolios and a former governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, Ould Dahi emphasized that “regardless of the outcome of the ongoing judicial process, it is essential to uphold the fundamental values of our nation, foremost among them the respect for human rights, particularly the right to proper healthcare.”
He wished Ould Abdel Aziz a “speedy recovery,” reiterating his confidence in the country’s institutions to act in a manner that respects justice, ethics, and humanity.
