Adrar Governor Calls on Media and Civil Society to Support National Tourism Season and Highlight the Region’s Unique Attractions

The Governor of Adrar, Mr. Abdellah Ould Mohamed Mahmoud, chaired a meeting on Monday at the Governorate headquarters, bringing together representatives of the regional press and civil society organizations. He urged them to actively contribute to the success of the national tourism season, in response to the call of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
In his remarks, the Governor emphasized that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure effective media coverage of the event and to highlight the unique touristic appeal of the Adrar region. He pointed out that Adrar is home to a rich array of natural and cultural assets, including historic cities, museums, libraries, archaeological and ecological sites, palm oases, valleys, and a vibrant cultural diversity that reflects deep-rooted values of coexistence, solidarity, and social cohesion.
He noted that the launch of the tourism season will be accompanied by a series of development and cultural activities such as traditional shooting competitions, football and pétanque tournaments, traditional games, cultural evenings, and scientific seminars—including discussions on the national tourism strategy.
The official program for the opening ceremony, he added, will include musical performances, traditional handicraft exhibitions, museum visits, hotel inspections, and the inauguration of several facilities, including a new civil registry office.
Governor Ould Mohamed Mahmoud called on regional media outlets and civil society organizations to play a proactive role in ensuring the success of the season, encouraging local stakeholders and natives of the region to return and take part in this important national initiative.
The meeting was held in the presence of the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr. El Alem Ould Chemed.
