Japan allocates 86 million to support Mauritania in the field of food security.
The Japanese government has allocated 86 million, 964 thousand, and thirty-three new Ouguiyas from the proceeds of Japanese rice sales to support Mauritania in the field of food security.
This support is part of the Japanese Food Aid Program for Mauritania for the year 2022.
The announcement was made during a ceremony marking Japan’s approval to allocate the proceeds from the sale of Japanese rice for 2022 to fund food security support programs in Mauritania. The event was attended by Japan’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Uchida Tatsukuni, and the Commissioner for Food Security, Fatima bint Khattari.
The Japanese government has been implementing the food aid program for Mauritania nearly every year since 1981, according to a statement it published. Last year, the Japanese government announced an allocation of 120 million new Ouguiyas from rice sales proceeds to support Mauritania in the field of food security.
