Jibril Mahmoud Appointed as a Member of the Chinguetti Prize Council
The Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania announced, through a decree issued today, the appointment of Jibril Mahmoud as a member of the Chinguetti Prize Council.
This appointment follows the passing of Bilal Ould Hamza, the former Secretary-General of the prize, who passed away several months ago.
The Chinguetti Prize was first awarded in 2001 during the presidency of former Mauritanian President Maaouya Ould Sid’Ahmed Taya. The prize consists of a certificate of appreciation and a financial grant of five million old ouguiya for each category of the award.
To be eligible for nomination, it is required that the research has not been published or presented for more than three years, and it must not have been written to obtain a university degree. Additionally, the work should not have already received another award.
The prize is awarded in three categories: “Islamic Studies Prize,” “Science and Technology Prize,” and “Literature and Arts Prize.”
