Mauritania Sets New Prices for Poultry and Eggs

The Mauritanian Ministries of Livestock Development and Trade and Tourism issued an “official” circular yesterday, Thursday, setting new prices for poultry meat and eggs in coordination with sector stakeholders, including companies and professional unions.
According to the circular, chicken will now be priced by weight (per kilogram), with the price of slaughtered and packaged chicken set at 140 new ouguiyas per kilogram in the Nouakchott regions. Meanwhile, a tray of eggs (30 eggs) has been set at 180 new ouguiyas.
The ministries stated in the circular that these prices were established based on an agreement with sector partners while considering the possibility of adjustments in other regions according to transportation and distribution costs.
The circular emphasized the necessity of adhering to the new prices and informing consumers accordingly, with the new pricing set to take effect officially on the 20th of this month.
