Minister of Equipment and Transport Inspects Road Projects in Guidimakha
The Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mr. Eal Ould Al-Firak, accompanied by the Governor of Guidimakha, Mr. Ahmed Ould Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Al-Deyah, conducted an inspection visit to the ongoing road construction projects in Guidimakha.
These projects, with a total cost exceeding 5 billion old ouguiyas, include the Kankossa – Ould Yeng, Ould Yeng – Labilli, Labilli – Sélibaby, and Sélibaby – Ghabou road sections.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the progress of the construction works and issued directives to ensure compliance with quality standards and adherence to the specified deadlines as outlined in the contract.
In a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency following the visit, the Minister noted significant delays in the progress of these four road sections, which were expected to be 90% complete by April next year. He attributed the delays to issues in the studies and work stoppages during the rainy season.
Yesterday evening, the Minister visited the Sélibaby – Ghabou section and held a meeting last night with the executing companies and monitoring firms, urging them to redouble their efforts to complete these projects within the stipulated timeframe.
Accompanying the Minister on this visit were the Governor of Ould Yeng District, the Vice President of the Regional Council, the Mayor of Ould Yeng Municipality, and military and security officials.
