On Friday, Minister of Interior Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed El-Amin presented the draft law on political parties to the Justice, Interior, and Defense Committee of the National Assembly.
The draft law aims to enhance political pluralism by encouraging broader participation of the political spectrum and bringing greater seriousness, efficiency, and organization to the national political party landscape, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The ministry stated that these reforms are a means to maximize the benefits of the current atmosphere of political calm.
The proposed law seeks to expand the representation of women and youth in political participation, ensuring adherence to democratic principles and preventing the misuse of parties for purposes that violate their organizational statutes, according to the statement.
