Official Launch of Ultra High-Speed Fiber Optic Offers up to 500 Mbps

Moov Mauritel marks a decisive milestone in Mauritania’s digital development with the official launch of its new Ultra High-Speed Fiber Optic offers, providing speeds of up to 500 megabits per second, the highest in the West African sub-region.
During an official ceremony held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Nouakchott, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Modernization, the President of the Regulatory Authority, members of the Board of Directors, institutional and economic partners, and numerous journalists, the CEO of Moov Mauritel presented the company’s major technological advancements and the prospects for national digital transformation.
A National Ambition Serving Digital Sovereignty
In his address, the CEO emphasized that this step aligns with the strategic vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, as expressed in the “My Commitments to the Nation” program, and implemented through the Digital Agenda 2022–2025.
“Today, Mauritania enters a new era where connectivity is no longer a privilege but a right accessible to all,” he affirmed.
Three Offers, One Commitment: Accessible Performance
The new Ultra100, Ultra200, and Ultra500 offers are now available in the major cities of the country: Nouakchott, Nouadhibou, Zouérate, Atar, Kiffa, Aioun, Néma, Rosso, Kaédi — with an imminent extension to Selibaby, Akjoujt, Tidjikja, and Boghé.
Furthermore, existing subscribers will see their speeds multiplied at no additional cost:
Customers with 15 and 30 Mbps will be upgraded to 100 Mbps;
Customers with 50 Mbps will be upgraded to 200 Mbps;
Customers with 100 and 200 Mbps will now access 500 Mbps.
Digital Transformation in Numbers
This deployment is part of a broader dynamic driven by Moov Mauritel, which invested over 18 billion old ouguiyas in 2025 to modernize its infrastructure. Results include over 120,000 fiber connections, 93% 4G coverage, international bandwidth increased to 400 Gigabits, and a new West Africa submarine cable operational with an investment exceeding 8 billion old ouguiyas.

A Clear Course for the Future
By 2028, Moov Mauritel aims to:
Expand Ultra High-Speed Internet to all urban households;
Cover all moughataas with fiber optics;
Prepare for the introduction of 5G;
Establish Mauritania as a regional digital hub.
The CEO also praised the new regulatory model based on incentives rather than sanctions, as well as the exemplary mobilization of Moov Mauritel’s teams, from technicians to sales and support services.
