NVIDIA Unveils New Chips to Enhance AI Capabilities in Personal Computers

NVIDIA, the American semiconductor giant, has announced new chips designed to enhance AI capabilities in personal computers, solidifying its position as a key player in cloud-based artificial intelligence. The announcement was made during a major event attended by over 20,000 people on the sidelines of the Las Vegas electronics exhibition, where the company’s CEO, Jensen Huang, presented a detailed demonstration of the new products.
Advanced Technology at a Competitive Price
The new chip, GeForce RTX 50, is powered by the next-generation Blackwell graphics processing unit (GPU), which was initially launched in late 2024 and was previously dedicated to cloud computing and data centers. The chip is priced at $549, which is three times cheaper than the previous base model, which was sold for $1,599.
Thanks to these advanced chips, NVIDIA continues to make significant strides, particularly following its major boom in generative AI since late 2022. These innovations are expected to revolutionize video game quality, graphic design, and overall user experience on personal computers.
Virtual Assistants & Extended Battery Life
NVIDIA stated that the new chips will pave the way for the emergence of a new generation of virtual assistants, capable of assisting users in their daily tasks from start to finish. Additionally, the company revealed that devices equipped with these chips will experience a 40% increase in battery life, improving efficiency and sustainability.
Expected Launch in April 2025
The new chips are set to hit the market by April 2025 and will be integrated into personal computers from Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. NVIDIA also revealed that laptops equipped with the entry-level version of GeForce RTX will start at $1,299.
“Blackwell”: The AI Engine for Gamers and Developers
During the presentation, Jensen Huang emphasized that “Blackwell is now available not only for developers and innovators but also for gaming enthusiasts”, reflecting NVIDIA’s commitment to merging AI performance with cutting-edge visual experiences.
With this move, NVIDIA returns to its roots from the 1990s, when it first developed graphics processors for video games, before shifting its focus to leading cloud-based AI advancements. Now, the company is refocusing on personal computers, promising a revolutionary leap in performance and innovation.
