President Ghazouani Meets U.S. Deputy Secretary of State in Washington to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani held a meeting this Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C. with Mr. Kurt Landaue, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, in the presence of delegations from both Mauritania and the United States.

The meeting focused on following up and advancing discussions initiated during the President’s earlier encounter with former U.S. President Donald Trump, within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance economic partnerships, particularly by encouraging greater engagement from the U.S. private sector in Mauritania’s development projects, with the aim of promoting shared prosperity and growth.

The talks also addressed regional security issues in the Sahel, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to confront common challenges in the region.

President Ghazouani and Deputy Secretary Landaue reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening the strategic partnership and maintaining close coordination on priority issues at both the bilateral and regional levels, reflecting the growing trust and cooperation between Mauritania and the United States.
