Prime Minister Chairs Meeting with the National Federation of Agriculture, Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Achieving Food Sovereignty

His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Ajay, chaired a meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the Prime Minister’s Office with the National Federation of Agriculture. The meeting was attended by the President of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, Mr. Zein El Abidine Ould Sheikh Ahmed.
At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister explained that the gathering was held in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, which call for engaging with various components of the National Union of Employers to listen to the challenges hindering the progress of the national private sector.
During the discussions, representatives of the agricultural sector expressed satisfaction with the progress of the current farming campaign and reported positive expectations regarding the harvest.
Following the presentations and deliberations on the sector’s key challenges, the Prime Minister emphasized the special importance President Ghazouani attaches to agriculture, given its central role in achieving national food sovereignty. He stressed that the government has been instructed to actively support this vital sector and provide all necessary means to ensure its success.
He noted that all requests submitted during the previous meeting with the Federation, held eight months ago, have been addressed by the government — and the same approach will continue moving forward.
The Prime Minister concluded by underscoring that the government’s interest in the agricultural sector is fundamentally aimed at serving the Mauritanian citizen and improving their quality of life. He reaffirmed that the government remains fully committed to providing all guarantees necessary to achieve this strategic national objective.
