The distribution of 600 food baskets to 600 underprivileged families in the Bouknadel district.

The Wali of Southern Nouakchott, Mr. Itiam Zakaria, oversaw on Sunday the distribution of 600 food baskets to underprivileged families in the Dar al-Bayda neighborhood of the Bouknadel district. These aid packages were funded by philanthropists in Kuwait, under the supervision of the International Mercy Association, and executed by the Upper Hand Association in Mauritania.

Each food basket includes 25 kilograms of sugar, 25 kilograms of flour, 10 kilograms of rice, and a 5-liter bottle of cooking oil.

In a speech on this occasion, the Wali of Southern Nouakchott emphasized that this initiative is part of the charitable activities organized by the Upper Hand Association in Mauritania. He highlighted the valuable interventions carried out by the association in areas such as mosque construction, orphan sponsorship, food distributions, education, and health in Southern Nouakchott.

On his part, the Secretary-General of the Upper Hand Association – Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Abdelrahman Al-Sebar, expressed his gratitude to the administrative and security authorities for facilitating this process. He pointed out that the aid aims to bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged families coinciding with the celebrations of the sisterly State of Kuwait.

For his part, the mayor of the Bouknadel municipality, Mr. Moussa Ould Abdullah, praised the Kuwaiti aid, expressing his gratitude to Kuwaiti charitable institutions, especially the Upper Hand Association, which embodies the concept of fraternity and cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Mauritanian peoples.

In a statement by Mr. Mohamed Ould Mouloud, one of the beneficiaries of the distribution, he thanked the State of Kuwait for its generous support, noting the significance of these aids given the approaching month of Ramadan.

The aid distribution was attended by representatives from the administrative and security authorities, some members of the National Assembly, members of the Upper Hand Association – Mauritania, and the beneficiaries of the assistance.
