Bank of Chinguiti reduces salaries of around 20 of its employees.

A number of Mauritanian employees working at Bank of Chinguiti were surprised to find that their salaries for December were reduced by between 30% and 45%, without being informed or given any justification by the bank’s management.

Ahmad Isaaq, the spokesperson for the affected employees, stated in an interview with the independent news agency “Akhbar” that around 20 bank employees were harmed by this sudden decision, which led to an immediate reduction in their salaries without any explanation.

Isaaq confirmed that this decision placed the majority of those affected in difficult circumstances, as nearly half of their salaries were deducted, with the remaining half being affected by deductions for loans.

He emphasized that they are preparing to file a complaint against the bank with the Labor Inspectorate, expressing hope that the inspectorate will fulfill its legal role and ensure the affected individuals’ legitimate rights, protecting them from injustice or any transgressions against them.

Isaaq also confirmed that they are pursuing all legal actions to secure their rights, including filing a complaint with the judiciary and seeking to compel the bank’s management to lift the unfair measure and halt the discriminatory and unjust decision.
