Today, Thursday, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of Mauritania inaugurated the road connecting the municipality of Nbeika in the Atar region to the Road of Hope.
According to the Ministry of Equipment and Transport, the road will help alleviate the isolation of 47 villages, inhabited by over 35,000 people.
The total cost of the road reached 5 billion old ouguiya, with Bis-TP company undertaking the project’s works under the supervision of the National Laboratory for Public Works and oversight from the Infrastructure Works Administration of the Ministry of Equipment and Transport.
Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mohamed Ali Ould Sidi Mohamed, stated that the road is 20 kilometers long and seven meters wide, in addition to an internal city road network spanning 2000 meters.
He further noted that work continues on another section, stretching ten kilometers from the city of Nbeika towards the city of Akjoujt, with the project’s cost totaling 4 billion 131 million old ouguiya.
