Governor of Tagant Chairs Regional Health Committee Meeting to Boost Preparedness During Rainy Season

The Governor of Tagant, Mr. Mohamed Ould Ahmed Mouloud, chaired a meeting of the Regional Health Committee today at his office in Tidjikja, as part of ongoing efforts to monitor and strengthen the health situation in the region, particularly during the rainy season.
In his remarks, the Governor noted that the meeting is part of the implementation of a directive issued by the Minister of Health, calling on administrative and health authorities, as well as relevant agencies, to hold awareness sessions aimed at preventing epidemic diseases that typically spread during the fall, such as malaria, dengue fever, Rift Valley fever, and other illnesses.
He emphasized that the initiative seeks to take proactive and effective measures to limit the spread of these diseases by training regional health teams on prevention methods and epidemic management. The plan also involves mobilizing media outlets, imams, vigilance committees, and civil society organizations to participate in comprehensive awareness campaigns, and ensuring rapid care for patients once cases are detected.
The Governor affirmed that the health system in the region is fully prepared, and that regional authorities will provide all necessary resources to enable swift and effective intervention, in coordination with partner organizations.
The meeting included several interventions focusing on diagnosing the types of diseases prevalent during the rainy season, preventive measures, and strategies to enhance health readiness to respond to any emergencies.
The meeting was attended by the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr. El-Hussein Ould Ahbibi, the Mayor of Tidjikja, Mr. Jaddou Ould Manab, along with several heads of regional health departments.
