The Mauritanian President inaugurates the Ayoune – Aouinat Azbel road after its rehabilitation
The Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated today, Friday, the road section from Ayoune to Aouinat Azbel, in the Western Hodh El Gharbi region.
The rehabilitation of this 90-kilometer road section is part of a larger project to rebuild seven sections of the national road network, totaling 700 kilometers in length.
The total cost of this section, which took 18 months to complete, amounted to 837,047,594 new Ouguiyas, funded by the national treasury.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Equipment and Transport, Ali Ould Ferk, stated that the rehabilitation of this crucial road section would improve the flow of traffic on this part of the “Hope Road” (Route de l’Espoir).
He added that in the past five years, Mauritania has seen the completion of numerous major infrastructure projects that have contributed to enhancing economic and social development in various regions of the country.
