The Ministry of Development resumes the livestock vaccination campaign that was suspended for two weeks

The Ministry of Livestock Development resumed its 2024-2025 livestock vaccination campaign yesterday, Wednesday, after suspending it in late November due to one vaccine not meeting the required efficacy standards.

The ministry clarified that laboratory tests confirmed the “efficacy of the vaccines used, with the exception of one vaccine, which will be withdrawn from all centers nationwide until it is replaced with a more effective alternative.”

The ministry had paused the campaign for 15 days “to ensure the absolute efficacy of all vaccines,” emphasizing that this step was part of its commitment to “effective immunization on one hand and adherence to the principle of transparency on the other.”

Regarding mandatory and free vaccines, the ministry conducted tests on the PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants) vaccine in an external laboratory and confirmed the efficacy of the PPCB (Contagious Pleuropneumonia) vaccine at the National Office for Livestock Research and Pastoral Systems’ laboratory, according to the statement.

As for the optional vaccines, the ministry relied on “sufficient certifications and approved laboratories.”

The ministry concluded by reaffirming its commitment to “ensuring absolute transparency and continuous evaluation at all stages of the campaign to achieve its desired goals, namely the effective immunization of the national livestock.”
