Intensified Israeli bombing targets Jabalia and Khan Yunis and imposes a siege on Hamad Town

The Israeli army intensified its airstrikes today, Tuesday, targeting areas from southern Gaza to its north, resulting in the deaths of dozens and besieging the residential city of Hamad in Khan Yunis, forcing thousands to evacuate.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that Israeli occupation aircraft targeted an entire residential block in Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip early this morning, resulting in 8 martyrs and several wounded.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent Hisham Zaqqout also reported that 25 martyrs arrived at the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, since yesterday, Monday, noting that 17 of them died in the bombing of the Al-Faqawi family’s home.

Zaqqout further stated that Khan Yunis is facing the most intense bombardment, with the Israeli army continuing its operations in the city despite its withdrawal from its western areas.

Israeli tanks are shelling the residential city of Hamad west of Khan Yunis, and they have arrested dozens of men there after besieging the area for two days and demanding the evacuation of its residents.

Exclusive images from Al Jazeera showed a number of residents leaving Hamad city, and Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Israeli Army’s 98th Brigade evacuated around 8,500 Palestinians from this residential area and arrested dozens of its residents.

The Israeli army claimed in a statement that its forces are focusing their operations in Hamad city based on what it described as intelligence indicating a large number of militants there, claiming to have arrested dozens of fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements there, and raided military warehouses and infrastructure.

Several axes in Khan Yunis are witnessing fierce battles between the occupation forces and the resistance, which announced yesterday a series of new operations.

Huge destruction

Al Jazeera obtained images from the downtown area of Khan Yunis after the withdrawal of occupation forces for the first time since the start of the ground operation in the city about two months ago.

The images show the extensive damage that occurred in Al-Bahr Street, Al-Qal’a area, Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, Jalal Commercial Street, Abu Hameed Roundabout, and the Khan Yunis Municipality headquarters, which the occupation army turned into a base for its military operations in the city.

The images also depict military equipment left by the occupation army during its operations in downtown Khan Yunis. Some civilians managed to access the area to check on their properties and retrieve the decomposed bodies of martyrs in the city center.

In other field developments, Al Jazeera’s correspondent Hisham Zaqqout reported that aerial and artillery bombardment targeted the town of Al-Maghraqa north of Al-Nusairat camp in the central Gaza Strip this morning. He noted that ambulance and civil defense crews were unable to reach the targeted area due to the presence of occupation forces nearby.

Al-Nusairat camp was subjected to an Israeli airstrike this morning targeting a house, resulting in casualties, according to Al Jazeera’s correspondent.

The correspondent mentioned that artillery shelling renewed this morning on the eastern areas of Al-Bureij camp and the adjacent area of Juhar Al-Dik in the central Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera’s correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul reported that the Israeli army carried out airstrikes and artillery shelling this morning on the western areas of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood south of Gaza City.

The correspondent also reported injuries among Palestinians due to Israeli shelling targeting them on the coastal Al-Rashid Street opposite central Gaza Strip. He previously stated that 9 martyrs arrived at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Gaza today announced that the Israeli occupation committed 10 massacres in the sector yesterday, resulting in 97 martyrs and 123 wounded. The ministry stated that the casualties of the aggression have risen to 30,631 martyrs and 72,043 wounded since October 7th last year.
