Ould Ghazouani: The candidates are sons of the country and our competition is to serve the country

President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania, who is a candidate in the presidential elections, stated that all candidates are sons of the nation, and the electoral competition with them is for the service of the country and its citizens.

Ghazouani’s remarks came during a meeting with his campaign team on Friday night/Saturday.

He urged his campaign team to commit to a campaign that “presents the program in a respectful manner, respecting all competitors.”

He emphasized that there should be “no undermining of the patriotism of any of the candidates, but rather considering that your choice is the most appropriate and optimal.”

He also called on them to respect “the legal regulations governing campaigns and elections, and to refrain from anything that could disrupt security and tranquility.”

The presidential elections are scheduled to take place at the end of this month, with seven candidates competing.
