Resident Doctors Resume Their Protests Outside the Ministry of Health

“Resident doctors resumed their protests in front of the Ministry of Health this Tuesday afternoon, following months of suspension. They accused the ministry of reneging on the agreement previously reached with them, which led to the suspension of their nationwide strike.

The resident doctors chanted slogans demanding that the ministry honor the agreement brokered by the Mauritanian medical profession.

Salaheddine Sidi Mohamed, one of the resident doctors, stated that their demands are of limited cost to the state budget, as they have been referred by the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Finance but have yet to be implemented.

Mohamed Ould Sidi Mohamed emphasized that responding to the demands of resident doctors is essential for improving the healthcare sector and enhancing service levels by focusing on human resources. He highlighted the pivotal role played by resident doctors within the healthcare system.

Dr. Mohamed Ould Ismail confirmed that resident doctors have endured working in unfavorable conditions for a long time and have patiently awaited the implementation of the agreement signed with the Ministry of Health. He urged authorities to respond to their demands to avoid a return to a comprehensive strike.”
