Getafe Close to Signing Dani Carvajal After His Real Madrid Exit

Getafe are reportedly close to completing a deal to sign Dani Carvajal, the former Real Madrid right-back who has been without a club since his contract with the Spanish giants expired at the end of June.

The 34-year-old spent the summer training individually after choosing to take his time before deciding on the next step in his career. He had been waiting for the right opportunity to continue playing at the highest level.

Carvajal and Getafe Reach an Agreement

According to Spanish media reports, the possibility of Carvajal joining Getafe emerged in recent weeks, with negotiations progressing quickly once contact was established between the two sides.

A move to Getafe would give Carvajal the opportunity to continue his career in La Liga after a long and highly successful spell with Real Madrid, as well as his time with the Spanish national team.

Financial Regulations Delay Official Completion

Although an agreement has reportedly been reached between Carvajal and Getafe, the transfer still requires several final steps before it can be officially completed.

The main obstacle is La Liga’s financial regulations. Carvajal’s salary during his time at Real Madrid was significantly higher than the wage limit available to Getafe.

The club is therefore waiting for approval from La Liga to register the veteran defender, with that authorization expected to be the final step before the transfer can be officially announced.
