The Minister of Education and Educational Reform, Huda Babah, announced a remarkable increase of 284% in the number of students benefiting from school sponsorships, rising from 63,025 students in 2019 to 242,548 students in 2024.
This announcement was made during her speech at the opening of the 2024-2025 school year, where she reviewed the sector’s achievements in improving the quality of educational offerings.
The minister added that the number of schools benefiting from sponsorships increased by 233% between 2019 and 2024. She also noted that the number of field teachers rose from 9,607 in 2019 to 17,222 in 2023, along with an increase of 3,698 classrooms from August 2019 to August 2023.
