Signing of an Electricity Interconnection Agreement Between Mauritania and Morocco
Mauritania and Morocco Sign High-Voltage Power Link Agreement
Mauritania and Morocco signed a high-voltage electricity interconnection agreement on Tuesday in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.
The agreement aims to enhance the national electricity system’s security and facilitate access to European electricity markets.
The deal was signed by Sidi Salem Mohamed El Abed, Director General of SOMELEC, Mauritania’s national electricity company, and the Director of Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water.
This agreement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to enhance cooperation in managing various components of electrical systems.
Earlier, on January 23, Mauritanian Minister of Energy and Petroleum Mohamed Ould Khaled signed an MoU in Rabat with Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development to strengthen partnership in electricity and renewable energy sectors.
