Mauritania: Israel’s Statements Toward Saudi Arabia Are a Provocation Threatening Stability

The Mauritanian government condemned the Israeli statements, describing them as “irresponsible” towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered these remarks “an unacceptable violation of international norms and laws and a provocation that threatens the security and stability of the region.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stated on Friday that “Saudi Arabia has enough land to provide a state for the Palestinians.”

The Foreign Ministry expressed “Mauritania’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for its sovereignty and security,” calling on the international community to take “a firm stance against these statements to preserve regional stability and uphold the principles of international law.”

The statement also reaffirmed Mauritania’s unwavering position in support of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Meanwhile, several Arab countries have denounced Netanyahu’s remarks regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a state for them in the Gulf kingdom.
