Ministry of Youth Empowerment Launches Second Phase of Anti-Drug and Anti-Violence Awareness Campaign in Nouakchott

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports, and Civil Service, Mr. El Najy Ould Khattri, oversaw the launch of the second phase of the community mobilization campaign aimed at protecting youth from the dangers of drugs and violence. The event took place on Saturday evening in the Sebkha district, located in the western region of Nouakchott.

This phase targets 22 neighborhoods across the various districts of Nouakchott, as part of ongoing efforts to curb harmful phenomena threatening young people. The campaign falls under the framework of the National Program for the Protection of Youth from Drugs and Psychoactive Substances.

Organized under the slogan: “Together Against Drugs and Violence,” the campaign seeks to raise community awareness and encourage the active participation of local stakeholders in efforts to prevent these growing threats and safeguard the younger generation.

The campaign’s activities included a variety of sports and cultural events, in addition to awareness-raising and religious lectures. The events began at the square opposite Carrefour “Pharmacy 10” in Arafat district and continued to the square behind the Specialized Hospital in the Sebkha district.

The campaign’s launch was attended by administrative and security authorities from both districts, along with regional youth office officials and representatives from community organizations.
