Youth Theater and Scriptwriting Training Programs Launched in Toujounine

The Youth Department of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports, and Civil Service, in collaboration with the “Rawad Training Center,” launched on Friday evening in Toujounine a series of training programs in theater techniques, scriptwriting, and stage performances for 120 young people from Nouakchott West and North regions.

The programs are supervised by theater specialists, supported by translators to deliver content in both Arabic and French. They aim to enhance youth skills for purposeful production, provide spaces for creativity and expression, equip youth associations with effective artistic tools to serve the community, and activate youth engagement.

Abu Bakr Al-Mami, Technical Advisor for Youth at the Ministry, emphasized that theater is a key means of communication and collective awareness, capable of changing mindsets, delivering positive messages, and promoting values of citizenship, peace, and tolerance. He added that these workshops align with the strategic directions of the President’s program, “My Ambition for the Nation,” implemented by the government of Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Dahi, particularly its integrated approach to youth empowerment.

He also noted that the workshops are not just training sessions but opportunities to create impact and open new doors for expression, creativity, and participation.

Mayor of Toujounine, Mohamed Salem Al-Fallali, highlighted the importance of theater as a mirror of society, reflecting its issues and concerns, discussing its ideas and contradictions, raising awareness, fostering dialogue among community members, strengthening a sense of belonging, and encouraging acceptance and understanding of differences.

Meanwhile, Al-Taqi Abdelhay, Director of the Rawad Training Center, explained that art serves as a sophisticated means of communication and a tool to address societal challenges. It also provides entertainment for youth while delivering ideas in an enjoyable and effective way to raise community awareness and influence mindsets.
