Despite a shaky start, FC Nouadhibou finishes the first half of the season at the top of the table.

FC Nouadhibou finished the first half of the current national league season at the top of the table, despite a shaky start.
The defending champions collected 29 points in the first 15 rounds of the league, reviving their hopes of retaining their title for a new season.
They face strong competition from Nouakchott Kings, who are two points behind, and FC Chamal, who are in third place, three points adrift of Nouadhibou. Last season’s runners-up, the Customs team, are also challenging for the top spots, sitting in fourth place with 25 points.
Nouadhibou’s top spot comes at a time when Sudanese club Al-Hilal occupies the eighth position with 21 points, while having five postponed matches to play.
It is worth mentioning that the regulations governing the national league stipulate that the Mauritanian club with the highest position in the league table will be crowned national league champions, while the Sudanese club with the highest ranking (between Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh) will be declared the winner of the Sudanese league, regardless of their position in the table.
