On Saturday morning, His Excellency the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure, Mr. Fadel Ould Sidaty Ould Ahmed Loli, conducted an inspection visit to several projects at the fish market in Nouakchott. This visit was part of the implementation of directives from His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to monitor the execution of government projects that are part of his electoral program, “My Ambition for the Nation,” which the government, led by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Ajay, is striving to realize.

During various stages of the visit, the Minister received detailed explanations about these projects and inquired about the progress and completion timelines from the contracting companies responsible for the projects.

The Minister emphasized to the project managers that it is imperative to complete these projects according to the predetermined timelines and technical specifications. He added that adherence to these conditions is what drives such visits, which will be repeated without prior scheduling.

The intervention includes the installation of a fence around the market area, public lighting, and the industrial wastewater treatment plant.

The second stop was at the fish sales area, funded by the state budget with a budget of 135 million old ouguiyas, which is to be completed within a year according to the commitment document. The completion rate for this project has reached 60%, and the executing company estimates that it will be finished by December 15.

The final stop of the visit was to the new building project for the management of the fish market, also funded by the state budget with an amount of 490 million old ouguiyas, expected to be completed within a year, with a current completion rate of about 20%.
