Minister of Culture: We are working to consolidate the separation of powers and strengthen relations with Parliament
The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament stated that the government places utmost importance on strengthening relations with Parliament to uphold the principle of separation of powers and enhance democratic practice.
During his visit to the Department of Relations with Parliament, the minister emphasized the significance of this department as a communication and coordination body between the executive and legislative branches. He noted its role in documenting and archiving parliamentary-related files, monitoring parliamentary activities, and ensuring official correspondence between the executive and legislative entities.
The Minister also affirmed that the directives received by the government from President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani were clear and unequivocal regarding the eradication of corruption in all its forms. He explained that administrative corruption is no less harmful than financial corruption. As a result, everyone is required to adhere to official working hours in all departmental services and perform their duties with diligence and responsibility. In return, the minister added, efforts will be made to establish standards of merit and qualifications as the sole reference for promotions and career advancements.
Accompanying the minister during the visit were the Secretary-General of the ministry, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Jiddou Khattari, and the assigned officials in the office, Maglaa Bint Laili, Ahmedna Ould Abil, and Mamadou Bah.
