On Monday evening, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani hosted an Iftar banquet at the Autonomous Port of Nouakchott in honor of the port’s laborers.
In an official statement, the Mauritanian presidency emphasized that President Ghazouani’s decision to share the Iftar meal with port workers reflects his deep commitment to the national workforce and his continuous efforts to improve their living conditions and regularize their professional status.
The statement further highlighted that this Iftar gathering follows the implementation of presidential directives aimed at improving conditions for workers at this vital port facility. These efforts have resulted in the creation of a labor management company, the permanent employment of 520 dockworkers, and the provision of health insurance, in addition to regularizing the status of 114 other dockworkers. These measures have contributed to a stable and positive social environment at the port in recent times.
