Vivo Unveils New Android 16 Interface Strongly Inspired by Apple’s iOS 26 Design

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced its new Android 16-based interface, OriginOS 6, which bears a striking resemblance to Apple’s recently introduced glass-like interface in iOS 26, according to a report published by Digital Trends.

OriginOS 6 features transparent elements, rounded icons, and highly fluid animations across the home screen and lock screen—creating an experience that closely mirrors Apple’s latest visual style. The similarity even extends to system icons, thanks to customizable icon packs available through the Android app store.

Vivo is promoting the new interface as being inspired by the “clarity and fluid motion of water,” highlighting that it offers a smoother, more seamless user experience. The report also notes that Nothing smartphones may adopt a similar design direction in their upcoming system update, as icon packs using the same visual style have begun to appear.

This is not the first time Chinese manufacturers have drawn inspiration from Apple’s interface designs. Similar trends emerged following the release of the iPhone X and iPhone 14, when several companies replicated the distinctive screen notch featured on those devices.

Vivo remains one of the leading Chinese smartphone brands with a strong presence in East Asia and India. As part of the larger group that includes OnePlus and Oppo, the company is expected—along with its sister brands—to incorporate additional iOS 26 design elements as Android 16 rolls out more widely across competing devices.
