Prime Minister Receives High-Level Delegation from the Chinese Communist Party to Strengthen Mauritania–China Relations

His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diay, received this Friday at his office in Nouakchott a high-level delegation from the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, headed by Mr. Jin Xin, Assistant Minister of the Department, accompanied by several party members.

The Chinese delegation is paying a friendship and working visit to Mauritania at the invitation of the Equity Party, within the framework of strengthening political and party-to-party cooperation and exchanging views on issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the head of the Chinese delegation gave a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency, in which he affirmed that cooperation relations between Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China have been fruitful and steadily developing, particularly since the meeting between President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2022.

He noted that relations between the two friendly countries represent a model of successful cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests, stressing that the visit aims to implement the directives of the two heads of state to elevate bilateral relations to higher levels.

The Chinese official also expressed his satisfaction with the significant progress achieved by Mauritania in various fields under the leadership of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, reaffirming his country’s readiness to work closely with Mauritania to further strengthen friendship and cooperation ties.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Fouad El Mokhtar Nesh; Vice President of the Equity Party, Mr. Mohamed Yahya Ould Harma; the Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser, Ms. Hindou Mint Ainina; the Secretary-General of the Equity Party, Mr. Afal Ankaysali; and the Adviser to the President of the Equity Party, Mr. Sidati Ould Sid El Khair.
