President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani inaugurated a new mineral loading line for the National Company for Industry and Mining (SNIM) in Nouadhibou on Friday.
Minister of Minerals and Industry, Tijani Thiam, stated that the new loading line will double the pace of ship loading, enhance the security and flexibility of loading operations, and contribute to preparing the company’s facilities for anticipated production increases.
The loading line consists of a rotary loader with a capacity of 6,000 tons per hour, a series of metal conveyor belts spanning 1,200 meters, and metal directing towers. Its total cost amounted to approximately €15.6 million, fully funded by SNIM.
This new line will enable the loading rate of ships to increase from 5,000 tons per hour to 10,000 tons per hour.
