Mauritania: Dismissal and Suspension of Hundreds of Teachers in October to Enhance National Education Performance
The Minister of Interior, Decentralization, and Local Development in the Mauritanian government, Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Al-Amin, stated that in the past October, 207 teachers were dismissed, 86 others were suspended, and 221 teachers had their suspensions lifted.
During the weekly government press conference, he added that in the same month, 116 professors were dismissed, 96 were suspended, and 92 others had their suspensions lifted.
The minister noted that the Mauritanian president tasked the ministers of interior and education with providing a monthly report on the attendance of teachers at their workplaces in order to enhance the performance of the national education system.
